BGH confirms judgment against Oskar Groening
The verdict against Oskar Groening is legally binding according to his lawyer: The "Accountant of Auschwitz" contributed aid to hundreds of thousands of murders. With such a decision of the Federal Supreme Court, other Holocaust handlers can also be held late.
In the case of the former SS man Oskar Groening, the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) has for the first time confirmed a conviction for aid to mass murder in a Nazi extermination camp. The guilty verdict against the 95-year-old is final, said Groening's defender Hans Holtermann.
This meant that Gröning was condemned to murder for 300,000 cases seven decades after the Holocaust, without being directly involved in individual acts. Gröning himself and several adjuncts had revised.
The Holocaust was not held responsible for decades because they were wheel in gear but had not killed themselves. A turning point was the Munich judgment against the former Sobibor-warden John Demjanjuk from 2011. But his conviction for aid to the murder of 28,000 Jews never became final because Demjanjuk died before.

Manage money and supervise transports
Gröning was sentenced to four years in prison in one of the last major Auschwitz trials in July 2015 by the County Court of Lüneburg. He had allowed to manage the money of the Jews who had been carried away, and to have supervised the arrival of the transports. The court interpreted this as a contribution to the functioning of the National Socialist killing machine.This meant that Gröning was condemned to murder for 300,000 cases seven decades after the Holocaust, without being directly involved in individual acts. Wheels in the gearbox have thus far been spared
With the Karlsruher resolution, this judgment is now final. This way, the way is free to make the process also to other hochbetagten hand-bearers of the Nazi regime.
