"Cumhuriyet" publisher Atalay in Istanbul
In Turkey the editor of the opposition newspaper "Cumhuriyet" has been arrested according to reports from several Turkish media.
Akin Atalay was arrested from Berlin at the Ataturk airport of Istanbul, reported the newspaper "Cumhuriyet" on their homepage.
On the 31st of October, the state news agency Anadolu reported that Atalay was being searched for the wave of arrests against "Cumhuriyet".

The former Cumhuriyet chief editor, Can Dündar, was sentenced to five years and ten months' imprisonment in May after the publication of an article on gun deliveries by the Turkish secret service to the jihadist militia Islamic state (IS) in Syria. State President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had personally filed a lawsuit against Dündar.In February, he was released to appeal. In July, Dündar left Turkey and has been living in Germany since then.
